Today I drew up a piece to do on Nikki for her calf (my favorite area to tattoo). I got the idea from a Joe Capobianco drawing and made it my rendition... I enjoyed doing this piece! The session was 3 hours long and it's probably one of my favorite pieces that I've ever done.
I think I'm probably gonna add more color to it once it heals...

I got to tattoo Kendra and Jay's (Nilson's loyal customers) friend who was referred to as "Big Dog" so I actually don't really remember his real name... It started off as "practice" and I actually wasn't going to shade it in, but I got the "OK" to go ahead and shade it (the outline alone looked WEIRD) but I'm actually pretty happy with it. I actually can't wait to see this healed because the redness and the swelling makes it look a bit odd...

I got to take in my first walk-ins at the shop!!!
On TWO very difficult areas too... The nape and the foot... These pictures don't do my work justice though. hahaha...

Micro Dial Liner!
I didn't get the liner that I wanted from Micky Sharpz at the convention, but I got this beaut instead:
MINES!

I got to do another piece of Nikki that I thought would go well with what I had already done on her leg... "Fishigree" you might call it hahaha. It was on a more difficult area of her leg that wasn't flat (it was towards the side of her leg by her butt so there was a lot of fatty tissue there... REALLY hard to stretch) so it was hard to try to press down on her and stretch properly... along with that was the dilemma of being worried about the stencil rubbing off. Other than that, I was happy with it, I just need to work with my continuation of long, flowing lines. I'm gonna be tattooing her every week (lucky girl! she's gonna be all tatted up for cheap!) so that I can see my progression...

The Biggest Tattoo Show On Earth!
This is going to be the first tattoo convention (and one of the many I hope ;]) that I get to go to! I'm so excited! I will be purchasing this tattoo machine, created by Micky Sharpz along with a few other supplies...

After Nilson saw my sugar skull, I think it amped him up to help me look for more leg donors... He then found Nikki! She had been tattooed by both Victor and Nilson previously and she worked as a cook in the military... She had agreed to letting me tattoo random stuff on her in accordance to the "lesson plans" that Nilson had for me... I was extremely lucky to have finally found my guinea pig! The advantage of having a person who isn't too picky about where and what I tattoo on him or her will help me in the sense that I get to see my progression through my apprenticeship. It helped that she was extremely sweet and friendly and pale skinned so that I can experiment with bright colors in the future hahaha... I also was the first girl to ever tattoo her, which was a bonus too!
The drawing I drew up with her had a lot of lines as well, but I felt more confident in doing it after doing the sugar skull the night before... I was very satisfied with the outcome and she really liked it too! Nilson gave me a few tips on enhancing the consistency of my lines, which I FINALLY picked up on and I finally am starting to perfect my 3-point stretch, which I honestly didn't think I would pick up on so soon hahaha... I'm going to be able to tattoo her again next Wednesday, the 7th and I can barely sit still :].

Discouraged by the Yoshi tatt, I hesitated on doing another tattoo... until my brother Mike decided to donate his leg to me. I have been practicing on and off on Mike for the past 2 1/2 years and I have always been extremely comfortable at tattooing legs (most awesome flat surface) so I decided to draw up a sugar skull since I knew it was going to consist of a lot of line-work. The outcome of the tattoo was very encouraging and I started to understand the importance of the 3 point stretch to my line-work.

When Kacie hit me up about doing a Yoshi tattoo, I was stoked! I thought it would be a cute and fun piece to do! When she told me that she wanted it on her chest (instead of her upper arm like I misinterpreted), I decided to give the chest area another shot after my first experience with Shelco. I was a bit discouraged after the outcome of this tattoo since it didn't turn out how I wanted it to come out... This is when I realized that it was a REALLY difficult area to work with, especially so close to the breast where there is a lot of excess skin and fatty tissue, making it harder to practice my 3-point stretch. Although she liked the piece, I'm honestly waiting until I get to touch it up before I post an up-close photo of the piece. I think it'll be way better once I get to pack some color up in it...
On a lighter note, I got to do a little Smiths tribute on Kacie's neck which I was a little bit more proud of because I got to see how much I improved on script (something that I DREADED on doing in the beginning) and to see how different areas of the body are easier to work on than others...

Today I changed Krystal's pre-existing diamond on her arm into a hot-air balloon and gave her and Shanda matching stick figure characters... I wasn't supposed to shade (I really just needed to practice my line work) but I couldn't resist doing so...
